What You Will Be Doing
The Senior Mechanical Engineer role focuses on HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system design, including coordinated ductwork plans, equipment specification, and technical documentation for residential and commercial projects. You will also provide oversight and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring technical accuracy, code compliance, and quality in all deliverables.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide oversight, mentorship, and technical guidance to engineers and designers, including reviewing and sealing drawings and calculations.
- Assist, liaise, and communicate with clients, project managers, and team members to meet project requirements.
- Perform Manual J (Residential) and Manual N (Commercial) load calculations based on client-provided data.
- Perform Manual S A/C system selection and HVAC system design, including ductwork layout and equipment specifications.
- Guide clients in HVAC equipment selection and design strategies to ensure good building practices and code compliance.
- Plan, review, and bid on potential projects to meet permitting requirements.
- Travel locally as needed to collect on-site information, including documenting existing site conditions, assessing mechanical system components, and preparing dimensioned floor plans.
- Provide weekly reports to track new and ongoing projects.

What You Bring
- Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering (required)
- 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 2+ years post-PE licensure preferred
- Demonstrated experience in HVAC system design (residential and commercial)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for HVAC system design and documentation (required)
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior engineering staff (required)
- Strong knowledge of Florida Building Code (Building, Mechanical, and Energy)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Valid driver’s license and social security card required for employment
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program preferred
